WHAT:  A full-day training for helpers on recovering from or preventing moral distress, overwhelm, and burnout.

WHO:  Dr. Kerry Makin-Byrd is a clinical psychologist and noted burnout and well-being expert who translates trauma and resilience science into practical support. Previously at the US National Center for PTSD and Stanford School of Medicine (affiliated), she was honoured with the US Veterans Health Administration’s Special Contribution Award for nationally impactful policy work and clinical teaching. Her research, policy, and clinical work focuses on military sexual trauma, operational trauma, moral injury, work burnout, and cumulative stress in medical professionals, Veterans, and Service members. Kerry is the author of the recently released START HERE: A Practical Guide For The Overwhelmed (Hachette UK) and the memoir The Ballad of Burnout.  Now based in Wellington, New Zealand, she divides her time between writing, providing trauma therapy, and supervising doctors and therapists. Her favorite types of rest are cold swims with her family and caring for foster cats.
