Bio: Virginia is a registered Clinical Psychologist working in private practice. She has co-ordinated ‘Musicians’ Health’ an interdisciplinary paper between Medical Health and Sciences and The School of Music for the University of Auckland, for eight years until 2018. She also works as the Clinical Advisor for Community Alcohol and Drug Services, Waitemata District Health Board. She graduated from the University of Auckland with a Doctor of Clinical Psychology, and holds degrees in Science, Arts and Music. Her work has involved the development and teaching of health programs and wellbeing courses for organisations including secondary schools, universities, multidisciplinary performing arts clinic, and Community Alcohol and Drugs Service.
Virginia is an active researcher, her investigations in the area of positive psychology and mindfulness help highlight what actions lead to optimal self-regulation, and well-being. In private work she provides comprehensive psychological support for an array of mental health issues including stress, performance anxiety, depression and self-esteem issues. She is known in the community for her development of motivational interviewing in group work and is a member of MINT; Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers.
