About
Kia ora, I’m Brodie McKinlay (she/her), a clinical psychologist based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. I began practicing in 2015 after studying at the University of Otago, and have worked across a range of settings in Aotearoa and Australia, supporting people from diverse backgrounds and communities.
My own experience of becoming a parent inspired my passion for supporting others through the challenges and transformations of early parenthood. I work with parents and parents-to-be during pregnancy, the postpartum period, and early parenthood. Common difficulties I can help with include anxiety, worry, low mood, frightening thoughts, birth trauma, and feelings of loss or grief for your “old life.” I also support those wanting to prepare mentally and emotionally for parenthood by reflecting on their own life experiences and hopes for the kind of parent they want to be.
