About
I am cognitive-behaviourally trained and regularly use many other models and theories including ACT, Schema Therapy and psychodynamic processes among others. Validation and the development of a safe therapeutic environment are my priorities, after which I aim to assist clients to essentially become their own psychologists - to develop insight, balanced thinking and perspective taking, self-care and boundaries, and the ability to deploy effective, healthy and helpful skils and strategies in the situations they need them. Evidence-based knowledge, skills and strategies are fundamental to my work. Given the importance of the therapeutic relationship, the frenetic pace and competing demands of modern life, and the commitment and courage it takes to seek out therapy, I work in person only. Therapy sessions are often the only opportunity clients have to extract from the mouse wheel and have an entire session devoted solely to them, free of competing demands.
