Kirsty Everett

Kia ora. I work part-time in my private practice based in Porirua. I see clients in person and also for online sessions. My therapeutic approach draws on a range of models and methods and I use various treatments including EMDR, CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and ACT. I have experience working with a wide range of difficulties that people may have including: mood and anxiety problems, emotion regulation difficulties, trauma, substance use, grief, wellbeing, burnout, and stress. The main focus of my work is individual therapy however I also have experience facilitating groups including anxiety management, self-esteem, and DBT skills groups. I provide clinical supervision for health practitioners and wellbeing services. I am registered with ACC Sensitive Claims. I trained at the University of Otago, completing a Bachelor of Science (Honours – 1st class), Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology (with Distinction), and a PhD in Psychology. From 2006, I worked in community mental health for Capital and Coast DHB, with my last role there being Consultant Clinical Psychologist. I moved into private practice in 2019.
