Liz Baker received her doctoral training in clinical psychology in the United States in 2010. She is an experienced clinician in public and private health care settings. She specializes in group individual and relational treatment for people living with a variety of difficulties. She focuses on mindfulness self-compassion connecting relationships and values congruent activities as key components to healing. Before coming to Aotearoa in 2023 she worked as a pain psychologist and neuropsychologist at Utah Valley Pain Management in Orem Utah for 12 years. She offers generalist therapy services through her telehealth private practice Liz Baker Psychological Services. She also finds great joy working on the interdisciplinary pain management team at Dunedin Hospital Persistent Pain Service. She is a trained professional supervisor and has experience in consultative roles with psychologists and health care providers from a variety of disciplines. Supervision topics may include working with psychological aspects of patient formulation burnout management and professional self-care and self-reflection on all aspects of workplace. She is a practiced public speaker. She has experience teaching clinical psychology and medical students on such topics as chronic pain management mindfulness resilience and sexuality. Outside of work she enjoys singing crafts cooking gardening and being with her partner two kids and two cats.
