My journey working in mental health started about 15 years ago. It started with a curiosity about people in general and a fascination with the mind-boggling array of life stories shared by clients. Over the years my initial fascination has grown into a deep respect for the resilience and creativity people show in navigating life’s obstacles and shaping their own lives and communities. I view families and human relationships as a cornerstone for health and wellness and as such integrate family systems principles and attachment theory into my clinical work. Most of my training was done in South Africa in the field of clinical psychology but my ideas and values are also shaped by anthropology philosophy and religion. Engagement with a variety of cultures continues to broaden my perspective as I strive to navigate my own personal and professional landscape and contribute to the communities I find myself in.
