About

My work as a clinical psychologist is between four days a week with our DHB mental health outpatient services and work in private practise in the evenings. My speciality interest and work is that related to complex trauma and general anxiety disorders including phobias and OCD. Over the past six years I have accessed formal training and clinic work in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing EMDR Therapy and have achieved Accreditation Level of clinical practise and experience. This allows me to also work with those presenting with complex trauma history and dissociative symptoms. In my practise I also use other therapy related processes including CBT Acceptance and Commitment therapy and Solutions Focused therapy. As an older clinician I am also the proud father of five adult children and my wife and I also enjoy our now seven grandchildren. In my early life I had served in the military as a Medical Corpsman and had served in South Vietnam. Between the late 1970s and to 1995 I had trained and worked as a registered nurse in leadership roles in clinical areas. I have been practising as a registered clinical psychologist for our DHB since 2007.
