I have practiced as a registered Clinical Psychologist since 2005 increasingly specialising in the field of neuropsychology and registering under the scope of practice as a Neuropsychologist when this became available in 2018. I completed my Clinical Psychology training at the University of Otago and have since worked in a wide range of rehabilitation mental health and medical settings. These have included the regional Neurology service the Wellington acute mental health inpatient service community neurorehabilitation and behavioural support the Older Persons and Rehabilitation Services the Child Development Services and the Department of Corrections. I have also supervised a number of trainee psychology interns and graduate Clinical Psychologists. Since 2014 I have been in full-time private practice initially dividing my role between psychological therapy work and neuropsychological/ psychological assessment work. I have completed a diverse range of assessment and treatment work across the country including behaviour support mental health neuropsychology concussion Court work pain and rehabilitation. Due to the high demand I began focusing exclusively on assessment work from 2018 holding the neuropsychological assessment services (NPS) contract with ACC and contracts with five rehabilitation services. I also completed assessments for a range of other referrers including insurance providers law firms the Crown and the NZ Police in addition to self-referrals. I am a charter member of the New Zealand Specialist Interest Group in Neuropsychology (NZ-SIGN). From 2019 I started subcontracting exclusively to two rehabilitation providers APM Workcare and Habit Rehabilitation and due to the nationwide demands of these two services I am unfortunately no longer able to accept private referrals. Overall I have completed hundreds of adult and child neuropsychological assessments in an extensive range of settings. Although I am not currently providing regular therapy I have formal training in and extensive use of a range of empirically supported therapy modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). This grounding in psychological treatment provides an additional foundation to my neuropsychological assessments that means I can make informed recommendations that focus on the individual as a whole and how best to support them.
