About the role
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Registered Psychologist(Health or Clinical) to join our Allied Health Oncology team in this newlycreated position. Working alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary team, youwill undertake comprehensive psychological assessment and care in collaborationwith patients and their whānau as the receive treatment for haematologicalcancers and complex blood disorders, in particular those planning a stem celltransplant.
As a key member of both the Haematology and Stem Cell Transplantprogramme and the Cancer Psychological and Social Support Service, you willcontribute to the development of a new model of support for patients and whānaufrom across the region, helping to ensure care is person-centred, responsive,and whānau-focused. You will provide clinical guidance to the clinical team,and work alongside your allied health colleagues to shape this new model ofcare.
About the Team/Service/Location
This role sits within the Allied Health Oncology team, part of theCommunity, Allied Health and Older Adults (CAHOA) group. Our friendly andcollaborative team includes social workers, psychologists, dietitians,physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech-language therapists, whowork alongside nursing and medical colleagues to support people receivingtreatment for cancer and blood disorders.
The team primarily delivers outpatient and community-based services,while also providing specialist support to inpatient areas when required. Wework closely with Te Rerenga Ora - Wellington Blood and Cancer Centre,Community ORA, outpatient services, NASC agencies, cancer NGOs and regionalproviders to ensure patients, whānau and caregivers experience coordinated andseamless support across services.
While this role is primarily based at Wellington Regional Hospital, theservice reaches far beyond the hospital setting. As we continue to expandintegrated and closer-to-home models of care, you will work flexibly across arange of environments, helping ensure patients can access specialist alliedhealth support wherever it is needed most.
