Australis Specialist Pain Clinic is seeking an experienced Psychologist to join our established interdisciplinary pain service in central Christchurch. This is an opportunity for a practical, team-minded clinician to work alongside
Specialist Pain Medicine Physicians, physiotherapists, nurses, and other allied health professionals in a service that values clinical excellence, innovation, and genuine patient impact.

Flexible Contracting
• From 2 days/week – shape your own schedule
• Maintain or grow a private caseload alongside Australis work with subsidised rooms
• Temporary, medium-term, or longer-term arrangements available

• Skilled admin and care coordination staff
• Assistance with reports, letters, and workflow
• Well-equipped clinic rooms and digital systems
• Optional AI-enabled scribing and documentation

The Clinical Work
Our patients present with diverse and complex pain conditions referred from GPs, specialists, and ACC across Canterbury and beyond. You’ll have a mix of individual and interdisciplinary work:
• Individual psychological assessments and therapy
• Shared care planning with medical and allied health colleagues
• Interdisciplinary case discussions and care coordination
• Optional involvement in tertiary support services

A Genuinely Collaborative Team
Our colocated interdisciplinary team has significant tertiary-level pain service experience. Shared care coordination is a central, everyday part of how we work. We are also co-located with dietitians, gastroenterology, neurology, and neurophysiology services, enabling rich cross-disciplinary consultation.
Australis is a partner with Sense Medical in the development of the Cortex care coordination platform, used across HealthNZ hospitals in Canterbury and the West Coast to support interdisciplinary care.
