Our Community Adult Mental Health teams provide comprehensive assessment and treatment of people identified as having moderate to severe mental illness and associated psychosocial issues.

You will be joining our multi-disciplinary team of Psychiatrists, Registered Nurses, Occupational Therapists and Social Workers, working closely with clients and their families and whānau to develop and maintain a wide range of skills to support and strengthen the recovery process. You will also work closely with referrers and colleagues from other agencies to achieve the best possible outcomes for the people we support. You will provide a wide range of psychological services including assessment, formulation, treatment planning, and therapy sessions.

We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist or Registered Psychologist with post-registration experience in a mental health setting and up-to-date knowledge of psychological interventions relating to mental health issues.

You will have excellent interpersonal and organisations skills and will be an active participant in our multidisciplinary teams. You will be the type of person who fits into a cohesive team culture of collaborative practice, openness, humour, and respect across disciplines. You will engender confidence, trust and rapport with clients and their support networks.

The Nelson adult community mental health team is located on the Braemar Campus site of Nelson Hospital, close to Nelson City, and maintains connections with fellow DHB psychologists within the wider team, including joint annual development days and professional development activities.

Both the NZ Psychological Society and the NZ College of Clinical Psychologist have active branches in the Nelson area and provide opportunities for members to attend training and maintain connections with psychologists in private practice.

The Nelson and Tasman regions are based at the top of the South Island and have a reputation as the Sunshine Capital of New Zealand. There are three large national parks all within 90 minutes drive. All outdoor pursuits are catered for providing opportunity for mountain biking, tramping, beach and water sports, and skiing and the region is well known for its wineries, art, crafts and relaxed lifestyle. The salary range for this full-time position is $82,692 through to $122,704 based on the current APEX Psychologists MECA (Step 3 to 13 if merit applies) dependent on skills, experience, and registration in NZ.
